Common Nail and Lower Limb Conditions
Digital nail deformities can lead to pain & discomfort during movement. These deformities often arises from an imbalance in the muscles, tendons or ligaments that normally hold the toe straight. Symptoms may include corns, calluses & pain. Treatment options at Form & Function Podiatry include custom orthotics, splinting, & in more severe cases, referral for surgical intervention.
Fungal nails, or onychomycosis, are a common issue characterised by discolouration, thickening, & brittleness of the nail. This condition can develop from exposure to damp environments & is often more prevalent among individuals with weakened immune systems or those who suffer from diabetes.
Ingrowing toenails occur when the edges of a toenail grow into the surrounding skin, leading to inflammation, pain, & possible infection. Factors contributing to this condition can include improper nail cutting, tight or ill-fitting footwear, or genetic predisposition. We provide comprehensive treatment to alleviate your discomfort, including proper nail care advice, removal of the ingrown portion, & preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition characterised by inflammation (or as research recently states 'degeneration') of the plantar fascia; a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, causing heel/arch pain.
There are 2 main types of Achilles tendinopathy:
Non-insertional: also called mid-portion which occurs between 2cm & 6cm above the insertion of the Achilles tendon on the heel bone.
Insertional: involves the lower portion of the tendon, where it attaches to the heel bone.
Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) is a common overuse injury of the lower extremity. It typically occurs in runners & other athletes that are exposed to intensive weight-bearing activities such as jumpers.

This run technique coach is amazing! What a legend.
Used to lo e my Converse in a pretty colour, but they absolutely ruined my feet, luckily I recognised this and had to work on undoing the damage. Unless you have a very narrow skinny foot shape.
Great inexpensive shoe you can wear day to day. I personally run in these now and again to reset my running form if I've been trying more cushioned shoes and messed up my gait. However this took years of foot strengthening to achieve and even then I sometimes put Enertor insoles inside if I've trained a lot or a slight heel raise if during the winter where I'm sitting down more & being more sedentary - therefore calves are tighter. Xero HFS are good also along with Freet Pace. Also highly recommend toe spacers! But Temu is fine for these, as they are softer and don't make your toes ache.
